Contractor classification and buyer type
Record your company’s classification in a structured way — field, grade and classification certificate — to see the right tenders, and know the buyer type behind every RFQ and tender.
Available in the dashboard

- Reminders before the certificate expires
- Tenders with a classification requirement
Structured classification instead of free text
Each classification field has its own card, reviewed by the platform team before it shows as verified.
Field
Buildings, roads, water & sewage, electrical, mechanical, telecom, operation & maintenance and more.
Grade
From grade one to grade five, or unclassified.
Certificate
Classification certificate number, expiry date and PDF file.
Expiry reminders
Reminders 30 days and 7 days before the certificate expires, and on the expiry day.
Tenders that require a minimum classification
The tender owner sets the requirement
Classification field and minimum grade, and whether it is mandatory or a warning only.
Contractors see what fits
An “eligible for my classification only” filter and their eligibility before bidding.
Checked on submission
A mandatory requirement blocks non-eligible bids; a warning allows the bid and shows the gap.
Bid comparison
The tender owner sees each bidder’s eligibility and classification badges next to the bid.
Buyer type
Every company sets its type at registration; it is shown to suppliers and subcontractors on RFQs and tenders, and they can filter by it.
Government
Ministries, authorities and government bodies.
Semi-government
Companies and bodies fully or partly state-owned.
Private sector
Private-sector companies and establishments.
Real-estate developer
Real-estate development companies.
Verified by the platform
The Ataam team reviews and verifies the buyer type; changing it removes the verification until it is reviewed again.
Frequently asked questions
Why record my contractor classification on Ataam?
You see the tenders whose requirements you meet, you can bid on tenders that require a classification, and tender owners see your classification badges when comparing bids.
What data is needed for each classification?
The classification field, the grade, the classification certificate number, its expiry date and the certificate PDF.
What happens when a classification certificate expires?
The platform reminds you 30 days and 7 days before expiry and on the expiry day. An expired certificate does not count for tenders that require a classification until you update it.
Can a buyer require a specific classification in a tender?
Yes. The buyer sets the classification field and minimum grade, and chooses whether the requirement is mandatory (blocking non-eligible bidders) or a warning only.
What is the buyer type?
The type of the requesting party: government, semi-government, private sector, real-estate developer or individual. It is shown on RFQs and tenders and can be used as a filter.
